GENUINE ITALIAN TERRAZZO: A NEW COLLECTION, NOW IN PERTH

Our new collection brings genuine honed terrazzo to Perth, sourced directly from Italy in 30mm slabs, with a carefully curated colour range that is as extensive as it is distinct.

Terrazzo has been made the same way for centuries: cement and marble aggregate, poured, cured, cut, and polished. The character comes from the colour, shape, and size of the aggregate, which is part of what makes it such a rewarding material to work with.

How a terrazzo slab is made

The process starts with a large metal mould, waiting for the cement and aggregate mixture to be poured. Once filled, the mould moves into a vacuum chamber that draws the air bubbles out of the mix. That step is what makes the finished block so dense and strong.

The aggregate is the heart of it. Marble chips and other stone fragments are mixed into the cement matrix, and the size and colour of those chips decide the slab’s final character: its texture, its depth, its personality.

Once poured and demoulded, the blocks sit in the curing yard for 28 to 30 days. They need that full period to reach structural strength before anyone touches them with a saw.

Only then are the cured blocks sliced into slabs, ground down to expose the aggregate, and polished to the honed finish you see in the range.

A material with depth

Honed terrazzo has a depth and character unlike other materials, and it develops further with daily use. For a kitchen island, a vanity, or a splashback, it’s a surface that holds presence in a room, and with proper care, ages gracefully across years.

The colour range is where this collection stands apart. The aggregate mix shifts from fine and tonal to bold, chunky fragments, so there’s scope to specify terrazzo that suits a restrained palette or one that leads the room.
